There is a sahih hadith that reveals the dua the Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite before leaving his home. This dua’s benefits include protecting the person who recites it upon leaving home from shaitan and being guided by Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
Bismillahi tawakkaltu ala Allah Dua in Arabic Text
The bismillahi tawakkaltu ala Allah dua in Arabic is as follows:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ
Transliteration: Bismillahi tawakkaltu alallahi la hawla wala quwwata illa billah
Bismillahi Tawakkaltu Alallahi Meaning in English
The English translation of this dua is:
“In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah”
Hadith on Dua When Leaving Home:
Narrated Anas ibn Malik:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: When a man goes out of his house and says: “In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah,” the following will be said to him at that time: “You are guided, defended and protected.” The devils will go far from him and another devil will say: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected?
