一、Dua After Hearing the Adhan
Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him):
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعَاءِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ، آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدتَّهُ
Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-dda watit-tammah, was-salatil qa’imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah, wa bath-hu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa`adtahu
“O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (free from associating partners with You) and of the established prayer, grant Muhammad the right of intercession and excellence, and resurrect him to the noble position You promised him.”
二、Proper Etiquette While Listening to the Adhan
1. Be Considerate and Present
- Avoid distractions: Silence your phone and refrain from unnecessary conversation. While there is no authentic hadith declaring talking during adhan a sin, it is a matter of common sense and reverence— the masjid is a space for spiritual focus, and noise disrupts both your own mindfulness and that of others.
- Be fully present: Let the adhan’s words remind you of your duty to Allah and the blessings of congregational prayer.
2. Repeat After the Muezzin
- “Whenever you hear the adhan, say what the mu’adhin is saying.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 612)
- Hisham reported that when the mu’adhin said “Hayya `ala-s-Salah (Come to prayer),” Muawiya (may Allah be pleased with him) responded: “La hawla wala quwata illa billah (There is neither might nor power except with Allah)” — adding, “We heard your Prophet saying the same.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 613)
- The Prophet (ﷺ) also said: “When you hear the mu’adhin calling for prayer, repeat his words, then ask Allah’s blessings upon me. For the one who asks Allah’s blessings upon me once, Allah will reward him with ten blessings.” (Sahih Muslim 384)
