一、Dua Before Beginning Wudu
بِسْمِ الله
Bismillah
“In the Name of Allah.”
This dua is supported by the Sunnah and compiled in Hisnul Muslim (Du’a #12). Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “None of you makes wudu and completes it, then says [the Shahada], except that all eight Gates of Paradise are opened for him, so he may enter by whichever he pleases.” (Sunan an-Nasa’i 148, graded Sahih by Darussalam)
二、Dua After Completing Wudu
1. The Shahada (Main Dua After Wudu)
Ash-hadu ‘an lā ‘ilāha ‘illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu wa ‘ash-hadu anna Muḥammadan abduhu wa Rasūluhu
“I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner; and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.”
This dua is confirmed in Hisnul Muslim (Du’a #13) and is the Prophetic practice. As Umar’s narration highlights, reciting the Shahada after perfecting wudu is a source of immense reward, opening the gates of Paradise.
2. Additional Sunnah Duas After Wudu
Dua 1: Seeking Repentance and Purity
Allāhumma ajalnee min at-tawwābeena wajalnee min al-mutatahhireen
“O Allah, make me among those who turn to You in repentance, and make me among those who are purified.”
Dua 2: Glorifying Allah and Seeking Forgiveness
Subhānaka Allāhumma wa bihamdika, ‘ash-hadu ‘an lā ‘ilāha ‘illā ‘Anta, ‘astaghfiruka wa ‘ātoobu ‘ilayk
“Glory is to You, O Allah, and praise; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.”
三、Key Reminders
- Wudu is Fardh, Duas are Sunnah: The act of wudu (washing the face, hands, forearms, head, and feet) is obligatory for prayer. The duas are recommended but not required—your wudu remains valid if you forget them.
- Perfect Your Wudu First: Focus on fulfilling the obligatory steps of wudu (cleanliness, intention, and washing each part thoroughly) before adding the duas.
- Sincerity is Key: Recite the duas with presence of mind, remembering that their purpose is to draw closer to Allah and seek His blessings.
