For those unfamiliar, Hisnul Muslim (Fortress of the Muslim) is a renowned collection of authentic supplications compiled by Said Bin Ali Bin Wahf Al-Qahtani. It organizes duas (prayers) recited by the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) for specific life situations, ensuring each supplication is rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah.
In Chapter 124 of the book—titled “When Feeling Some Pain in the Body”—there is a powerful, easy-to-learn dua to seek relief from physical discomfort. Below is the complete guidance for reciting this supplication, including its Arabic text, transliteration, translation, and proper method of use.
Dua for Relief from Physical Pain
How to Recite:
- Place your hand gently on the part of your body where you feel pain.
- Recite “Bismillah” (In the Name of Allah) three times.
- Then recite the following dua seven times:
Arabic Text:
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ
Transliteration:
A`ūdhu billāhi wa qudratihi min sharri mā ajidu wa uḥādhir
English Translation:
I seek refuge in Allah and in His Power from the evil of what I find (the pain I feel) and of what I guard against (future harm).
Complete Practice (As Prescribed in Hisnul Muslim):
Place your hand on the affected area, say:
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ (Bismillāh) × 3
Then say seven times:
- أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ (A`ūdhu billāhi wa qudratihi min sharri mā ajidu wa uḥādhir)
This dua draws on the Prophet’s (ﷺ) teachings of seeking Allah’s protection and healing, as He is the Only One with power over all forms of pain and illness. Recite it with sincerity, trusting in Allah’s mercy and ability to grant relief.
May Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ) ease your suffering, grant you healing, and shower you with His blessings. Ameen.
Jazakallah khair—may Allah reward you with goodness.
