Chapter 77: Dua Upon Sneezing
Arabic Text:
إِذَا عَطَسَ أَحَدُكُم فَلْيَقُلِ
(الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ)
وَلْيَقُلْ لَهُ أَخُوهُ أَوْ صَاحِبُهُ: (يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ)
فَإِذَا قَالَ لَهُ: (يَرحَمُكَ اللَّهُ) فَلْيَقُلْ:
(يَهْدِيكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَكُمْ)
Transliteration:
- When you sneeze, say: Alḥamdulillāh
- Your companion should respond: Yarḥamukallāh
- When someone says Yarḥamukallāh to you, reply: Yahdīkumu ‘llāhu wa yuṣliḥu bālakum
English Translation:
- When you sneeze: “All praises and thanks are to Allah.”
- Companion’s response: “May Allah have mercy upon you.”
- Your reply: “May Allah guide you and set your affairs in order.”
