Rabbij \u2018alnee muqeemas Salaati wa min zurriyyatee Rabbanaa wa taqabbal du\u2019aaa<\/div>\n
“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.” – Qur’an, Surah Ibrahim, Ayah 40<\/div>\n
Those familiar with the story of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) know that he faced struggles in having children in his old age. Parents understand the love and joy a child can bring into the world. When you desire to have children but are unable to, it is a challenging situation that many people have to endure. Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) constantly prayed to Allah, asking for offspring of his own, and eventually Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) answered his prayer, granting him two sons\u2014Ismael and Ishaq (may peace be upon them both).<\/div>\n
In the verse preceding these two ayahs, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) expressed his gratitude: “Praise to Allah, who has granted to me in old age Ishmael and Isaac. Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplication.” (Qur’an, 14:39)<\/div>\n
He then continued his du’a, praying that Allah would make him and his children among those who never miss the opportunity to perform Salah. He beseeched Allah to hear and accept this supplication, and subsequently expanded the scope of his prayer to ask for forgiveness for himself, his parents, and the entire Ummah on the Day of Qiyamah (the Day of Judgment).<\/div>\n
