The most severely tested people on the planet are all the Prophets.<\/div>\n
They went against the accepted conventional wisdom of the time and spoke honestly to try and guide their respective communities to the right path.<\/div>\n
Often their efforts were rejected, and the Prophets were ostracized and ridiculed for their beliefs. Just imagine the mental torment of being disrespected by your closest companions and family. Their sacrifice and suffering were not in vain; they endured for you and me to be guided and saved in the Hereafter.<\/div>\n
In Surah Imran, Allah says to Prophet Muhammad (\ufdfa) in Ayat 184:<\/div>\n
\u201cThen if they deny you, [O Muhammad] \u2013 so were messengers denied before you, who brought clear proofs and written ordinances and the enlightening Scripture.\u201d<\/div>\n
We should be thankful to all of Allah\u2019s Prophets and send our salutations to them. Doing so is among the most virtuous acts, and inshallah our status will be elevated as a result.<\/div>\n
In this article, we\u2019ll explore the popular \u201cAllahumma Salli Ala\u201d dua, which the Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) himself recommended for sending blessings upon him.<\/div>\n

Allahumma Salli \u2018ala Muhammadin wa \u2018ala aali Muhammadin, kama sallaita \u2018ala Ibrahima wa \u2018ala aali Ibrahima innaka Hamidum-Majeed. Allahumma barik \u2018ala Muhammadin wa \u2018ala aali Muhammadin kama barakta \u2018ala Ibrahima wa \u2018ala aali Ibrahima innaka Hameedum-Majeed.<\/div>\n
There are slightly different versions of this dua based on various authentic hadith narrations. The version provided here is the most widely accepted one. The Prophet (\ufdfa) instructed his companions to recite this dua when they asked how to send salutations upon him.<\/div>\n

Allahumma Salli Ala Dua in English<\/h3>\n
The translation of this dua is: \u201cO Allah, send Your grace, honour and mercy upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your grace, honour and mercy upon Ibrahim, You are indeed Praiseworthy, Most Glorious. O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your blessings upon Ibrahim, You are indeed Praiseworthy, Most Glorious.\u201d<\/div>\n

Is This Dua Found in the Quran?<\/h3>\n
A common question is whether this salawat can be found in the Quran. The answer is no\u2014this dua is mentioned in numerous authentic hadith, and the version provided here is the most widely accepted.<\/div>\n

Importance of Sending Blessings to the Prophet (\ufdfa)<\/h3>\n
In Surah Ahzab Ayat 56, Allah says:<\/div>\n
\u201cIndeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.\u201d<\/div>\n
In this verse, Allah directly commands all believers to send blessings and peace upon Prophet Muhammad (\ufdfa).<\/div>\n
People sometimes question why we often praise the Prophet during salat. It\u2019s important to clarify that this is not an act of worship\u2014worship is reserved solely for Allah. Instead, mentioning Muhammad (\ufdfa) in our prayers is a way to express our love, send our prayers, and ask for mercy for him.<\/div>\n
This is no different from asking Allah for forgiveness or mercy for someone you love deeply, like your parents, spouse, or children. You would constantly supplicate for Allah\u2019s mercy upon them, and the love for the Prophet (\ufdfa) should be reciprocated in the same manner.<\/div>\n
Allah\u2019s sending His blessings on His Prophet (\ufdfa) means He is extremely kind to him: He praises him, blesses his work, exalts his name, and showers His mercy upon him. The angels\u2019 blessings mean they hold the Prophet (\ufdfa) in deepest love and supplicate to Allah to grant him the highest ranks, make his religion and Shariah flourish, and elevate him to a laudable position.<\/div>\n
We will continue to support the Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa) and spread his message.
