The Prophet (\ufdfa) said: \u201cAllahu Akbar Dhul-malakut wal-jabarut wal-kibriya\u2019 wal \u2018azamah (Allah is Most Great, the One Who has all sovereignty, power, magnificence, and might.)\u201d Then he recited Surah Al-Baqarah, bowed, and his bowing lasted almost as long as his standing. When bowing, he said: \u2018Subahana Rabbial-\u2018azim, Subhana Rabbial-\u2018azim (Glory be to my Lord Almighty, Glory be to my Lord Almighty).\u201d When he raised his head, he said: \u201cLi Rabbial-hamd, Li Rabbial-hamd (To my Lord be praise, to my Lord be praise).\u201d And when he prostrated, he said: \u201cSubahana Rabbial-A\u2019la, Subahna Rabbial-A\u2019la (Glory be to my Lord Most High, glory be to my Lord Most High).\u201d Between the two prostrations, he would say: \u201cRabbighfirli, Rabbighfirli (Lord forgive me, Lord forgive me).\u201d<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"heading-3 ace-line old-record-id-FRKwf6RdPdnkXBcie2KchA0XnHb\">Variations of the Dua<\/h3>\n<div class=\"ace-line ace-line old-record-id-PvtGfvufBdyqdjcuKw7cCIK1nkb\">There are variations where people have added to this dua, which is acceptable and considered virtuous behavior.<\/div>\n<div class=\"ace-line ace-line old-record-id-GzyffWmvedyp7NcMEEncLAcnnBe\">One variation is: \u201cRabbighfirli warhamni wajburni warfa\u2019kni warzuqni wahdini wa\u2019afini.\u201d The addition \u201cwa\u2019afini\u201d asks Allah to strengthen me or grant me well-being.<\/div>\n<div class=\"ace-line ace-line old-record-id-Wraufg4ffdvNmZc6CMRc6IBSnPf\">Another variation of the Rabbighfirli dua asks Allah to forgive our parents, ourselves, and the entire Ummah: \u201cAllahummaighfirli (O Allah, Forgive me) waliwalidayya (and my parents).\u201d<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"heading-3 ace-line old-record-id-Ow2AfBLCVdLXnuc4NRTc9gxKnLc\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n<div class=\"ace-line ace-line old-record-id-AwAsfrPIEdpnlJcT6UDcQ1E3nsg\">I too am guilty of not reciting this dua between the two sujood. In the past, I would hear others whispering something between prostrations but never learned or was taught what it was.<\/div>\n<div class=\"ace-line ace-line old-record-id-B0iOfQbQvdn4rUccnCEc1VTinIb\">My pride as an adult stopped me from asking out of embarrassment\u2014and that was my mistake. I hope you do not make the same error. Although missing this dua does not invalidate your salat, I missed out on many years of easy rewards due to my ignorance. It is a simple act, and since you are already praying, why not recite one of these two duas?
