In the Quran, Surah Ibrahim contains a dua recited by Prophet Ibrahim (may peace be upon him), which asks Allah to make him and his family among the best Muslims.<\/div>\n
In this concise dua, Prophet Ibrahim asks Allah for the following:<\/div>\n

    To be among the Muslims who consistently uphold the five daily salats with discipline.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    To have children who remember the importance of establishing prayer.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    Forgiveness for himself.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    Forgiveness for his parents.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    Forgiveness for the entire Ummah.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    So, what exactly is this dua?<\/div>\n
    This dua is from Surah Ibrahim, ayat 40-41. The Arabic text is as follows:<\/div>\n

    Transliteration: [Ayah 40] Rabbij alni muqeemas salati wa min zurriyati Rabbana wa taqabbal du\u2019a [41] Rabbanagh fir lee waliwalidayya wa lil mumineena Yawma yaqoomul hisaab<\/div>\n
    The English translation of this dua is:<\/div>\n
    \u201cMy Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication. Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.\u201d<\/div>\n
    Regarding the Day the account is established, it is stated in the Quran: \u201cAllah will recompense every soul for what it earned. Indeed, Allah is swift in account.\u201d (14:51)<\/div>\n
    It is wise for us to recite this dua regularly. It is a beautiful supplication that asks Allah for many blessings, with the main focus on the well-being of the family. It prays for good fortune for oneself, one\u2019s children, and one\u2019s parents, and even extends to asking for forgiveness for the entire Muslim Ummah.<\/div>\n
    Background Behind This Dua:<\/div>\n
    Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) included his father, who was a mushrik (polytheist), in this prayer because he had made a promise to pray for his father\u2019s forgiveness. However, when he realized that his father was an enemy of Allah, he distanced himself from praying for his forgiveness. This is mentioned in Surah At-Taubah, Ayat 114:<\/div>\n
    \u201cAnd the request of forgiveness of Abraham for his father was only because of a promise he had made to him. But when it became apparent to Abraham that his father was an enemy to Allah, he disassociated himself from him.
