Al-\u1e24aqq is a name and attribute of Allah which means the True One or the Truth. This is in reference to Allah being the True One and a reality we must always submit to. His guidance is the best of guidance full of truth for our path to success.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u1e24aqq\u201d is an Arabic word which refers to believing in the existence of something, and that it is according to reality. In reference to Allah, the name \u201cal-\u1e24aqq\u201d points to the essence of Allah being a model of truth, whose existence we believe in and that this is in accordance to reality.<\/p>\n

This name of Allah has been used in the Qur\u2019\u0101n many times. Below are some examples:<\/p>\n

\u201cHigh above all is Allah, the True<\/strong> King! There is no god except Him, the Lord of the Honourable Throne.\u201d (Qur\u2019\u0101n 23:116)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThen all of them will be returned to Allah, their True<\/strong> Master. Undoubtedly, His is the judgement, and He is the swiftest of those who take account.\u201d (Qur\u2019\u0101n 6:62)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThat is because indeed Allah is the Truth<\/strong>, and because indeed He gives life to the dead, and because indeed He has power over everything.\u201d (Qur\u2019\u0101n 22:6)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The above verses use the name \u201cal-\u1e24aqq\u201d for Allah describing Him as the \u201cTrue King\u201d, the \u201cTrue Master\u201d and \u201cthe Truth\u201d, giving mankind an insight into the importance of this name of Allah and how it is deeply connected to Him.<\/p>\n

This name of Allah has also been used in \u1e25ad\u012bth:
\n\u201cWhen the Prophet Muhammad (\ufdfa) woke up at night for prayer, he would supplicate with the following words:

\nTransliteration:
\nAntal-\u1e25aq wa wa\u2019dukal-\u1e25aq, wa liq\u0101\u2019uka \u1e25aq, wa qualuka \u1e25aq, wal-jannatu \u1e25aq wan-n\u0101ru \u1e25aq\u2026<\/em>
\nTranslation:
\n \u201c(O Allah) You are the Truth. And Your Promise is the truth. And Your Word is the truth. And to meet You is true And Paradise is true\u2026\u201d (Bukh\u0101r\u012b) <\/strong><\/p>\n

The above narration shows how the Prophet Muhammad (\ufdfa) praised Allah in his supplication by using Allah\u2019s name \u201cal-\u1e24aqq\u201d, saying \u201c(O Allah) You are the Truth\u201d. This teaches us how we should also acknowledge the name of Allah \u201cal-\u1e24aqq\u201d by verbally praising Allah with this name, such as in our supplications too.<\/p>\n

The Quran also explains how Allah is an example of \u201cal-\u1e24aqq\u201d through His words and actions:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd Allah wipes out falsehood and establishes the truth<\/strong> by His Words.\u201d (Qur\u2019\u0101n, 42:24)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cHave you not seen that Allah has created the heavens and the earth with truth<\/strong>?\u201d (Qur\u2019\u0101n, 14:19)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cAnd the earth will shine with the light of its Lord, and the book (of everyone\u2019s deeds) will be placed, and the prophets and the witnesses will be brought, and matters will be decided between them in truth<\/strong>, and they will not be wronged.\u201d (Qur\u2019\u0101n, 39,69)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The above verses from the Qur\u2019\u0101n make clear that the name of Allah \u201cal-\u1e24aqq\u201d not only points to the essence of Himself, but also to His actions. Hence, Allah is an example of the truth, even through actions. This is what we should also always aim for. Therefore, even when supplicating to Allah, the Prophet Muhammad (\ufdfa) taught us to ask Allah to guide us to the truth:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the Prophet (\ufdfa) got up to pray at night, he would start his prayer with the words:

\nTransliteration:
\nAll\u0101humma Rabba Jibr\u0101ila, wa M\u012bk\u0101\u2019\u012bla wa Isr\u0101f\u012bl, f\u0101\u1e6diras-s-sam\u0101w\u0101ti wa-l-ar\u1e0d, \u2018\u0101lim-l-ghaybi wa-sh-shah\u0101dah, Anta ta\u1e25kumu bayna \u2018ib\u0101dika f\u012bm\u0101 k\u0101n\u016b fihi yakhtalif\u016bn, ihdin\u012b lima-khtulifa f\u012bhi min-l- \u1e25aqqi bi-idhnik, innaka tahd\u012b man tash\u0101\u2019u il\u0101 \u1e62ir\u0101\u1e6d mustaq\u012bm. <\/em><\/p>\n

Translation:
\nO Allah, Lord of Jibril, Mika\u2019il and Israfil, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen; You judge between Your servants in what they differ. O Allah, regarding the disputed matters, guide me to the truth by Your will. Indeed, You are the One Who guides to the straight path.\u201d (Muslim) <\/strong><\/p>\n

The above verses of the Qur\u2019\u0101n and narrations from \u1e25ad\u012bth highlight the importance of Allah\u2019s name and attribute \u201cal-\u1e24aqq\u201d. This gives a true appreciation of how this attribute and quality of Allah being the True One and the Truth should be deeply embedded in our hearts and minds. Furthermore, even when we worship Allah, we should be aware and mindful of this attribute and name of His, in that we are worshipping the True One. Along with being mindful of this during our worship, we should follow the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (\ufdfa) by praising Allah with this name, such as in our supplications by saying, \u201c(O Allah) You are the Truth\u2026\u201d. We should also ask Him to always guide us to the truth. Part and parcel of acknowledging, remembering and worshipping Allah as \u201cal-\u1e24aqq\u201d \u2013 \u201cthe True One\u201d, we should let this quality be part of our lives by always being truthful and calling each other towards the truth, just like Allah mentions:<\/p>\n

\u201cIndeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who believe, do good deeds, urge one another to the truth<\/strong>, and urge one another to steadfastness.\u201d (Qur\u2019\u0101n 103:2-3)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
