Anas (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhu) said: \u201cThe Messenger of Allah \ufdfa would often say [the above]. So I asked: \u2018O Messenger of Allah, we believe in you and what you have come with, but do you fear for us?\u2019 He replied: \u2018Yes. Indeed the hearts are in between the two Fingers of Allah\u2019s Fingers. He changes them as He wills.\u201d\u2019\u00a0(Tirmidh\u012b 3522)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Messenger of Allah \ufdfa said: \u201cShayt\u0101n comes to one of you and says: \u2018Who created you?\u2019 He replies: \u2018Allah.\u2019 Then Shayt\u0101n says: \u2018Who created Allah?\u2019 If that happens to any one of you, let him say [the above]. He is the First and the Last, the Most High and the Most Near. And He is All-Knowing about everything.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n

Abu Zumayy reported: \u201cI asked Ibn Abbas (radiy All\u0101h\u016b \u2018anhum\u0101): \u2018What is this that I am experiencing?\u2019 He answered: \u2018What is it?\u2019 I said: \u2018By Allah, I cannot talk about it.\u2019 He asked me: \u2018Is it something to do with doubt?\u2019 [When answered it was], he smiled and said: \u2018No-one was safe from it until Allah revealed:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are in doubt concerning what We revealed unto you [O Prophet], ask those who read the Scripture from before your time. The truth has indeed come to you from your Lord, so be not one of those in doubt.\u201d\u00a0(10:94)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ibn Abbas (radiy All\u0101h\u016b \u2018anhum\u0101) told me: \u2018If you find any [doubt] within yourself, say: [the above].\u201d\u00a0(Ab\u016b D\u0101w\u016bd 5110)<\/strong><\/p>\n

O Allah, I seek Your protection from knowingly committing shirk and seek Your forgiveness for unknowingly (committing it).<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n

The Messenger of Allah \ufdfa said: \u201cO people, beware of this shirk, for it is more subtle than the footsteps of an ant.\u201d The one whom Allah willed should speak asked him: \u201cHow can we beware of it when it is more subtle than the footsteps of an ant, O Messenger of Allah?\u201d He replied: \u201cSay [the above].\u201d\u00a0(Ahmad 3731)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ma\u2019qil bin Yas\u0101r (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhu) narrated: \u201cI walked with Ab\u016b Bakr Sidd\u012bq (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhu) to the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa. He \ufdfa said: \u201cO Ab\u016b Bakr! This shirk is more subtle than the footsteps of an ant.\u201d Ab\u016b Bakr asked, \u201cIs shirk not only when a person ascribes a partner with Allah?\u201d The Messenger of Allah \ufdfa replied: By the One in whose hands my life is, shirk is more subtle than the footsteps of an ant. Shall I not guide you towards something which if you say, it will remove it\u2019s minor and major?
