Ab\u016b Sa\u2019\u012bd al-Khudr\u012b (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhu) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa got up to pray at night (for tahajjud prayer) he uttered the takb\u012br and then said [the above].<\/p>\n
He then said: \u0644\u0627\u064e \u0625\u0650\u0644\u064e\u0647\u064e \u0625\u0650\u0644\u0627\u064e\u0651 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0647\u064f (There is no god but Allah) three times.<\/p>\n

O Allah, distance me from my sins as You have distanced the East from the West. O Allah purify me from my sins as white cloth is purified from dirt. O Allah wash away my sins with water, hail and snow.<\/pre>\n
Ab\u016b Hurayrah (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhu) narrates: \u201cThe Messenger of Allah \ufdfa would pause between the opening takbir and the recitation. said: \u2018May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, the pause between the opening takbir and the recitation, what do you say?\u2019 He replied: \u2018I say [the above].\u2019\u00a0(Bukh\u0101r\u012b 744, Muslim 598)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anas (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhu) narrated that a man came panting and joined the row (of congregants in \u1e63al\u0101h), and then uttered [the above]. When the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa finished his \u1e63al\u0101h, he said, \u201c\u2026I saw twelve angels competing with each other to ascend with it.\u201d\u00a0(Muslim 600).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u02bfAbdull\u0101h b. \u02bfUmar (radiy All\u0101h\u016b \u2018anhum\u0101) narrated, \u201cOnce we were praying with the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa when a man said [the above]. The Messenger of Allah \ufdfa (after the \u1e63al\u0101h) asked, \u201cWho uttered those words?\u201d The man replied, \u201cIt was me, O Messenger of Allah.\u201d He \ufdfa said, \u201cI was amazed by them \u2013 the doors of heaven were opened for them.\u201d Ibn \u02bfUmar said, \u201cI have not stopped saying these words since I heard this statement of the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa.\u201d\u00a0(Muslim 601).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u02bfAbdur Ra\u1e25m\u0101n b. \u02bfAwf (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhu) narrated: I asked \u2018A\u2019isha (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anh\u0101), the mother of the believers, (to tell me) the words with which the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa commenced the \u1e62al\u0101h when he got up at night. I have turned my face towards the One who created the heavens and the earth, turned away from all that is false having surrendered to Allah, and I am not of the polytheists. My \u1e63al\u0101h, my sacrifice, my life and my death are all for Allah, Lord of the worlds, who has no partners. I have been commanded of this, and I am of those who submit. O Allah, You are the King, there is no god worthy of being worshipped except You. You are my Lord and I am Your slave. I have wronged myself and I confess my sins. Forgive all of my sins, for no one forgives except You. O Allah, for You Alone is all praise; You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and whatever is therein. For You Alone is all praise; You are the Maintainer of the heavens and the earth and whatever is therein. And for You Alone is all praise; You are the Truth, Your promise is the truth, and Your speech is the truth. The meeting with You is the truth, Paradise is the truth, and Hell-Fire is the truth. The Final Hour is the truth, the Prophets are the truth and Muhammad \uf067 is the truth. O Allah, I surrender myself to You Alone, I put my trust in You Alone, and I believe in You Alone. I turn to You Alone, I complain of my opponents to You Alone and I refer judgement to You Alone.<\/pre>\n

Allah is the Greatest. All praise be to Allah. Allah is free from imperfection. There is no god but Allah. I seek Allah\u2019s forgiveness. O Allah, forgive me, guide me, grant me sustenance and wellbeing. I seek your protection from the anguish of standing on the Day of Judgement.<\/pre>\n

She said, \u201cYou have indeed asked me something which no one before you has asked me. I seek protection in Allah, the All-Hearing and All-Knowing from the rejected Shayt\u0101n; from him inciting madness, pride and reprehensible poetry.<\/pre>\n

\u02bfAwf b. M\u0101lik (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhu) narrates: \u201cI stood with the Prophet \ufdfa. He started by using the siw\u0101k and performing wu\u1e0d\u016b, then he stood and prayed. He started reciting al-Baqarah and he did not come to any verse that spoke of mercy but he paused and asked for mercy, and he did not come to any verse that spoke of punishment but he paused (and sought refuge with Allah from that). Then he bowed and he stayed bowing for as long as he had stood, and he said while bowing: [the above] Then he prostrated for as long as he had bowed, saying while prostrating: [the above]. Then he recited al \u02bfImr\u0101n, then another s\u016brah and another, doing that each time.\u201d\u00a0(Nas\u0101\u2019\u012b 1132, Ab\u016b D\u0101w\u016bd 873)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u02bfAwf b. M\u0101lik (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhu) narrates: \u201cI stood with the Prophet \ufdfa. He started by using the siw\u0101k and performing wud\u016b, then he stood and prayed. He started reciting S\u016brah al-Baqarah and he did not come to any verse that spoke of mercy but he paused and asked for mercy, and he did not come to any verse that spoke of punishment but he paused (and sought refuge with Allah from that). Then he bowed and he stayed bowing for as long as he had stood, and he said while bowing: [the above]. Then he prostrated for as long as he had bowed, saying while prostrating: [the above]. Then he recited S\u016brah \u0101l \u02bfImr\u0101n, then another surah and another, doing that each time.\u201d\u00a0(Nas\u0101\u2019\u012b 1132)<\/strong><\/p>\n

I had a dream at night while I was sleeping in which I was praying behind a tree, when I prostrated the tree prostrated along with me. He then said: \u201cHow perfect is the Owner of dominion, might, grandeur and greatness!\u201d He then began (his salah) and recited Surah al-Baqarah; then he bowed and he paused in bowing as long as he stood up; he said while bowing, \u201cHow perfect is my Lord, the Magnificent.\u201d \u201cHow perfect is my Lord, the Magnificent.\u201c; then he raised his head, after bowing: then he stood up and he paused as long as he paused in bowing and said, \u201cPraise be to my Lord\u201d ; then he prostrated and paused in prostration as long as he paused in the standing position; he said while prostrating: \u201cHow Perfect is my Lord, the Most High.\u201c; then he raised his head after prostration, and sat as long as he prostrated, and said while sitting: \u201cO my Lord forgive me.\u201d He offered four rak\u2019ahs of prayer and recited in them S\u016brah al-Baqarah, \u0100l Imran, an-Nis\u0101, al-M\u0101\u2018idah, or al-An\u2019\u0101m.
