There is none worthy of worship except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, there is none worthy of worship except for Allah, alone, there is none worthy of worship except for Allah, alone, without any partner, there is none worthy of worship except for Allah, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him is all praise, there is none worthy of worship except for Allah, there is no power in averting evil, or strength in attaining good except through Allah.<\/pre>\n
Al-Agarr Ab\u012b Muslim (ra\u1e25imahull\u0101h) narrates that he bears witness from Ab\u016b Sa\u2018\u012bd al-Khu\u1e0dr\u012b and Ab\u016b Hurayrah (ra\u1e0diy All\u0101hu \u2018anhum\u0101) that they bear witness that the Prophet \ufdfa said: \u201cWhoever says: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, (L\u0101 il\u0101ha illall\u0101h, wa All\u0101hu akbar)\u2019 His Lord affirms his statement and says: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except Me, and I am the Greatest,\u2019 and when he says: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except for Allah, Alone, (L\u0101 il\u0101ha illall\u0101h, wa\u1e25dah\u016b)\u2019 Allah says: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except for Me and I am Alone.\u2019 And when he says: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except for Allah, Alone, without partner, (L\u0101 il\u0101ha illall\u0101h, wa\u1e25dah\u016b l\u0101 shar\u012bka lah\u016b)\u2019 Allah says: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except Me, Alone, I have no partner.\u2019 And when he say: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except for Allah, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him is the praise, (L\u0101 il\u0101ha illall\u0101h, lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-\u1e25amdu)\u2019 Allah says: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except Me, to Me belongs all that exists, and to Me is the praise.\u2019 And when he says: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except Allah, and there is no might or power except by Allah, (L\u0101 il\u0101ha illall\u0101h, wa l\u0101 \u1e25awla wa l\u0101 quwwata ill\u0101 bill\u0101h)\u2019 Allah says: \u2018There is none worthy of worship except Me, and there is no might or power except by Me.\u2019\u201d And he would say: \u201cWhoever says it in his illness, then dies, the Fire shall not consume him.\u201d\u00a0(Tirmidh\u012b 3430)<\/strong><\/p>\n

All\u0101humma-ghfir lahu, wa-rfa\u02bf darajatahu fi-l-mahdiyy\u012bn, wa-khlufhu fi \u02bfaqibihi fi-l-ga\u0304bir\u012bn, wa-ghfir lana\u0304 wa lahu ya\u0304 Rabba-l-\u02bfa\u0304lam\u012bn, wa-fsa\u1e25 lahu fi qabrihi, wa nawwir lahu f\u012bh.<\/em><\/pre>\n
O Allah, forgive him and raise his station among those who are guided. Take care of his future generations in his place. Forgive us and him, Lord of the Worlds, and expand his grave for him and illuminate it for him.<\/pre>\n
Umm Salamah (rad\u0323iy Alla\u0304hu \u2018anha\u0304) reported: \u201cThe Messenger of Allah \ufdfa came to Ab\u016b Salamah, and his eyes were open; so he closed them. Then he said: \u2018When the soul is taken out, the sight follows it.\u2019 Some people from his family shouted and screamed, so he \ufdfa said: \u2018Do not make du\u02bfa\u0304\u2019 for yourselves except for good, for the angels say a\u0304m\u012bn to what you say.\u2019 Then he \ufdfa said [the above].\u00a0(Muslim 920)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Umm Salamah (rad\u0323iy Alla\u0304hu \u2018anha\u0304) reported: \u201cThe Messenger of Allah \ufdfa said: \u2018If you are with a sick person or a person in the agony of death then speak [only] good, for the angels say a\u0304m\u012bn to what you say.\u2019 When Ab\u016b Salamah passed away I came to the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa and said: \u2018O Messenger of Allah, Ab\u016b Salamah has passed away.\u2019 He said: \u2018Say [the above].\u2019 I say that Allah gave me better than him: Muhammad.\u201d\u00a0(Muslim 919)<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are from Allah and to Him do we return. O Allah, reward me for my affliction and give me something better in return for it.<\/pre>\n
Umm Salamah (rad\u0323iy Alla\u0304hu \u2018anha\u0304) reported: \u201cI heard the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa say: \u2018There is no servant [of Allah] who has been afflicted with a calamity and then says [the above] without Allah rewarding him for his affliction and giving him something better than it.\u2019\u201d Umm Salamah (rad\u0323iy Alla\u0304hu \u2018anha\u0304) also related: \u201cWhen Ab\u016b Salamah passed away, I said what the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa had instructed me to say, and Allah gave me someone better than Ab\u016b Salamah: The Messenger of Allah \ufdfa.\u201d\u00a0(Muslim 918)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Inna lilla\u0304hi ma\u0304 akhadha, wa lahu ma\u0304 a\u02bfata\u0304, wa kullun \u02bfindahu bi-ajalin musamman, fal-ta\u1e63bir wa-l-ta\u1e25tasib.<\/em><\/pre>\n
Verily to Allah belongs what He took and to Him belongs what He gave, and everything with Him has an appointed time; thus, be patient and hope for Allah\u2019s reward.<\/pre>\n
A daughter of the Prophet \ufdfa sent word to him that her child was dying; he responded by conveying the greeting of sal\u0101m to her and saying [the above]. She again sent for him, swearing that he should come.<\/p>\n
The Prophet \ufdfa got up, and so did Sa\u02bfd b. \u02bfUb\u0101da, Mu\u02bf\u0101dh b. Jabal, Ubayy b. Ka\u02bfb, Zayd b. Th\u0101bit and some other men (radiy All\u0101h\u016b \u2018anhum). The child was brought to the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa while his breath was disturbed in his chest (the sub-narrator thinks that Us\u0101ma added:) as if it was a leather water-skin.<\/p>\n
Upon this, the eyes of the Prophet \ufdfa started shedding tears. Sa\u02bfd said, \u201cO Messenger of Allah \ufdfa! What is this?\u201d He replied, \u201cIt is mercy which Allah has placed in the hearts of His slaves, and Allah is Merciful only to those of His slaves who are merciful (to others).\u00a0(Bukh\u0101r\u012b 1284)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alla\u0304humma-ghfir lahu, wa-r\u1e25amhu, wa\u02bfa\u0304fihi, wa\u02bffu \u02bfanhu, wa akrim nuzulahu, wa wass\u02bfi mudkhalahu, wa-ghsilhu bi-l-ma\u0304i\u2019 wa-thalji wa-l-barad, wa naqqihi mina-l-kha\u1e6da\u0304ya kama\u0304 naqqayta-th-thawba-l-abya\u1e0da mina-d-danas, wa abdilhu da\u0304ran khayran min da\u0304rihi, wa ahlan khayran min ahlihi, wa zawjan khayran min zawjihi, wa adkilhu-l-Jannah, wa-\u02bfidhu min \u02bfadha\u0304bi-l-qabri wa \u02bfadha\u0304bi-n-na\u0304r.<\/em><\/pre>\n
O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him. Protect him and pardon him. Ennoble his dwelling and widen his entrance. Wash him with water, snow and ice, and purify him from sin as a white garment is purified of dirt. Give him in exchange a house better than his house, a family better than his family, and a wife better than his wife. Enter him into Paradise and protect him from the punishment in the grave and the punishment of the Hell-Fire.<\/p>\n
\u02bfAwf b. Ma\u0304lik (rad\u0323iy Alla\u0304hu \u2018anhu) reported: \u201cThe Messenger of Allah \ufdfa performed the jana\u0304zah (funeral) prayer, and I memorised [the above] supplication which he said.\u00a0(Muslim 963)<\/strong><\/p>\n

O Allah, whomever You cause to live among us, make him live according to Islam; and whomever You cause to die among us, let him die with faith.
