Located at 13 ° 28 ‘N and 16 ° 39’ W, along the Atlantic coast of West Africa, it borders the Atlantic Ocean to the west and is tightly surrounded by Senegal to the north, east, and south. The country covers an area of 11295 square kilometers and is divided into the capital city of Banjul and five local administrative districts, with a population of 2.42 million.
